I am wanting to know if I can apply an early settlement discount, (ie: 10% of balance due) with just a simple discount item that is applied to an invoice before receiving payment from my customer? The insructions within quickbooks to set up codes and items seems so complex and untidy. I am using the Australian version of Quickbooks Pro.
The purpose of using tax codes & items is to enable QuickBooks to recognise the difference between a "sale" transaction & a "purchase" transaction & to ensure that the tax amount is calculated correctly.
I would strongly advise that you enlist the assistance of a Quicken Advisor in setting up your company file correctly, otherwise you are going to run into some major headaches down the track .......
