Editing a Memorized Transaction for Daily Sales Summary

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2008

When using a memorized transaction to record daily sales summaries, what needs to be updated to reflect a new bank?  I changed the bank info on payment list, but  the deposits still automatically post to my old bank account.  I also re- memorized the transaction, but no luck.  Help !

Hi kathy9519,

Are you still using the old bank account?  You can make that bank account Inactive.  Highlight the account in the Chart Of Accounts and right-click.  Select Make Account Inactive.

You can set the Checking Account as a default account by going to Edit > Preferences.  Click on the Checking.  Select the Checking account in the section that you want to be set as a default account.

If this helped you, please mark this Solved so Intuit can close this thread.  Thank you, kathy9519.

Laura,

Thanks for the suggestions.  I am using both bank accounts temporarily, therefore cannot make the old bank account Inactive. Last night I edited the Payment item with the new bank info, but deposits (Check/Cash) and (Visa/MC) still post to the old bank acct.  Tonight, I checked Edit.>.Preferences>Checking, but the default bank already reflects my new bank info. I think it was updated as a result of updates to the payment items.  Unfortunately, payments entered on the Memorized Daily Sales Summary Receipt still post automatically to the old bank account.

When I set up this process a year ago, I setup QB items, one for daily Check/Cash payments and another for daily Visa/MC payments.  I linked the items to the Checking account where the funds were actually deposited.   I have a Customer set up as Daily Sales Summary to enter daily summarized receipts.   I'm wondering if I need to set up a new Customer or make the payment items inactive and create a new payment items.

Any more suggestions on how to edit rather than setting up a new customer, payment items, and memorized transaction.

Kathy

Finally, I resolved the issue today !  Here are the steps incase any one else encounters this issue.  1) Mark the two payment items (Cash/Checks) and (Visa/MC) linked to the old bank account as inactive.  2) Create two new payment items (Cash/Checks) and (Visa/MC) and link them to  the new bank account.  3) Access the 'Daily Sales Summary' memorized transaction and select the new payment items.  That's all, going forward the deposits will automatically post to the new bank account.
