How do I create a percentage discount on an estimate that lowers my markup but not my cost?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2010: Manufacturing and Wholesale

When I apply a percentage discount to a product it lowers my amount, cost and the total field and leaves the markup field alone. IT should lower my MARKUP and TOTAL colums? Am I doing something wrong?
