QuickBooks 2009 for Mac R8 patch for Snow Leopard compatibility will be available soon
Like a lot of Mac users, you’re probably anxious to upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 “Snow Leopard.” So will QuickBooks 2009 for Mac work on Snow Leopard? The QuickBooks for Mac team has identified several compatibility issues (including new user product registration) that may cause problems for some users. For most users, the compatibility issues identified will not impact you.
Here’s a list of the known compatibility issues with QuickBooks 2009 for Mac and Snow Leopard:
- When registering, the registration assistant quits mid-process leaving QuickBooks in an unregistered state
- Crash occurs while trying to connect to some banks using Direct Connect
- Crash occurs when exporting report data to Excel
- Visual problem where all text and controls in Select Financial Institutions dialog appears dim
- Visual problem where New Company window items appear dim
These issues will be resolved in our R8 update. The team is working diligently to bring you the R8 update so you can have QuickBooks 2009 running smoothly on Snow Leopard as soon as possible. QuickBooks will notify you when the R8 is available.

markpix541, if you turned off automatic updates in QB 2009 for Mac, then it won't notify you. Did it download R7 for you when it came out about two weeks ago? Regardless, you can check for updates any time at QuickBooks > Check for QuickBooks Updates.
