QuickBooks 2009 for Mac R8 patch for Snow Leopard compatibility will be available soon

US QuickBooks for Macintosh

Like a lot of Mac users, you’re probably anxious to upgrade to Mac OS X v10.6 “Snow Leopard.” So will QuickBooks 2009 for Mac work on Snow Leopard? The QuickBooks for Mac team has identified several compatibility issues (including new user product registration) that may cause problems for some users. For most users, the compatibility issues identified will not impact you.

Here’s a list of the known compatibility issues with QuickBooks 2009 for Mac and Snow Leopard:

  • When registering, the registration assistant quits mid-process leaving QuickBooks in an unregistered state
  • Crash occurs while trying to connect to some banks using Direct Connect
  • Crash occurs when exporting report data to Excel
  • Visual problem where all text and controls in Select Financial Institutions dialog appears dim
  • Visual problem where New Company window items appear dim

These issues will be resolved in our R8 update. The team is working diligently to bring you the R8 update so you can have QuickBooks 2009 running smoothly on Snow Leopard as soon as possible. QuickBooks will notify you when the R8 is available.

Hi Shelbelle --

Just wanted to point you to a previous discussion (http://community.intuit.com/po... some other incompatibilities have been noted. Hopefully the solutions are quick fixes that can make it into R8.

I have sent in several crash logs as well but want to make you that the issues are sounded on all fronts.

Thanks,

matthewluke

Great you're working on the QB Mac 2009/Snow Leopard compatibility problem. How will you notify me when R8 is available?

matthewluke, I've got you covered. Were those crashes Apple crashes? Or submitted to Intuit?

timf95, the program itself will notify you when R8 is available.

timf95, not a good idea to put your email address here. I suggest you edit it out.

Shelbelle:

Any chance the R8 "fix" will help us QB 2007 for MAC users as well?  It's running fine on Leopard (10.5.8).  While Snow Leopard is on my desk staring at me, I'm waiting to hear about the outlook for QB 2007 for MAC before I install the upgrade.

Thanks for your posting.  TIming?

markpix541, if you turned off automatic updates in QB 2009 for Mac, then it won't notify you. Did it download R7 for you when it came out about two weeks ago? Regardless, you can check for updates any time at QuickBooks > Check for QuickBooks Updates.

GeneionMAC and emsko, a QuickBooks update is always for only one version. If Intuit does decide to put out an update for QBP 2007 for Mac, it would be done separately. (I kind of wonder whether Intuit will update QBP 2007 for Mac. When Leopard came out, no updates were done for versions older than that one.)

Thanks much. I just purchased 09 yesterday and it is V R7. At this point it seems to be responding well. But as detailed above it is resisting registration. I'll watch for the update to R8.

I installed Snow Leopard last night I love it.  This morning I've been paying bills via QuickBooks for Mac and have been having many problems.

I cannot:

Pay Bills

Record Deposits

And much more.

Again thanks for working on the patch.  How will we be notified?

Josh

@timf95, my bad (again, darn it!). A moderator or co-moderator can edit. Do you want your email address removed?

@wildfireweb, per my 9:22 AM entry, we've heard nothing yet. (See above.)

I also have a repeatable crash. When I try to change an account on a transaction that has linked transactions, QB2009 crashes. Unfortunately when the Crash Reporter comes up, it can go for several minutes without actually finishing, and I have to Force Quit it.

Getting crashes under Snow Leopard when Receiving a single payment that hit multiple invoices. I really can't believe that Intuit didn't have this ready when Snow Leopard launched. As a small-time developer, I have had a lot of time with Snow Leopard to make sure my software would be ready, why is it that a company like Intuit wasn't. These are simple issues.

Is Intuit at least going to test QBP 2007 as is on Snow Leopard and let us know if it works?
