I'm working on taxes for somebody who lost his son last year. Actually I have to do his son's taxes too. He has w2 from a place he worked. Now, his father will get his refund. using proseries basic, for federal I got the form 1310 but for my state (Georgia) I did not found any form for this purpose. I checked the internet and it seems there is a form GA-5347, but how can i have it with proseries? Also, on the forms (1040 and states return) who has to sign? any help apreciate
I just did one for a son who is personal rep for his deceased mother --- for the Fed -- he signs the 8979 or the 1040 but notes that he is the rep signing for the mother
And this case Michigan requires that on MI1040 the name of the mother be shown as taxpayer followed by "DECD" and the son's name on the second row with the word " REP".
Of course if you e-file then none of these things show up , except for the fact both IRS and Michigan wanted a signed copy of the 1310 sent to the same address as the paper return would have gone.
