Subject: Urgent message ? Microsoft .NET patch XP and Vista patch causing P

On April 8, Microsoft issued a NET 2.0 Service Pack 1 update. Some ProSeries customers who have installed the update receive an error message (Error Code 4-0) or message that reads ?Microsoft.Net assembly registration utility has encountered a problem and needs to close.? The result is that these customers are unable to e-file or print tax returns within the ProSeries software. This issue is not affecting all ProSeries customers; but, because you are working during this critical period before the April 15 filing date, we recommend the following:? If you have not downloaded and installed the April 8 .NET update, we recommend that you wait until after April 15 to do so.? Customers who have already installed the update should remove Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 and reinstall if they are getting the errors messages noted above. For installation directions, please visit our support site at http://www.proseries.com/suppo.... If Windows is set to auto-update, the issue could occur again and customers can repeat the uninstall-reinstall steps to resolve it.We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue with the Microsoft update. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issue. The ProSeries Team

For Proseries 2008 software:

Is Intuit going to be working with Microsoft to avoid this same problem in the future beforehand?

Thanks
