Update E-filing status for prior year

Is there a secret method to getting E-file acknowledgments to update for a prior year's program?I reinstalled my operating system and re-installed my prior year's ProSeries programs all the way back to 1999. I tried to update the e-filing acknowledgments for tax year 2006 and got error messages on approx 2/3 of my clients I know were successfully e-filed. The Client Status page still shows the date the return was accepted by the IRS, but the newly downloaded status says no return(s) was(were) found.I seem to recall some vague memory of a special keystroke combination that was necessary to get the acknowledgments to update properly. What is the secret combination? Can prior year's files be successfully updated this way, or am I SOL? If prior years cannot be updated more than a year later is there some file that must be backed up in the ProSeries program directories that will restore the original E-filing acknowledgment? If so, I may still have a copy of that file in my archives.Any help will be appreciated.

Your prior year returns will not be updated by any method I'm aware of. If you have any questions about the status of a return, you can always call tech support and we can tell you what the status is. There just won't be a way to get that status in the program.

On a side note, using the Control (CTRL) key while clicking on Update status will pull down all of your acknowledgements. If you only have 25 or 50 returns, it won't be a big deal, but if you have thousands or returns, it may lock up your computer due to the number of acknowledgements it's trying to pull.

I would recommend using the Update Selected feature. Just highlight the returns you want to update, go to Efile > Electronic Filing > Update Acknowledgement Status of Selected Returns. It accomplishes the same thing with less risk of your computer freezing.
