send me the information, I will check into it. I had a return that I did the end of January and efiled it. Then the first of March I did another return, efiled it and it said that it was accepted. Then the next day the first file was gone. The file name was in the place of the second file, but the information in the return was for the second one. Well, luckly on Sunday I was going through the files I have sent and found that he IRS and Utah State did not have record of it. So Ihave efiled it tonight and hope that it makes it so that there is not a late filing penalty. I am so tired of this kind of crap going on. Also, last night trying to finish up a return, the data I had entered disappeared and I had to enter it again. Nice huh.........
I received you post right after I threw the card away. Sorry, but I read your other post about all the buys and sells that you have to enter and I have the same problem with 2 clients. One client has at least 30-40 a month from the brokerage accounts. It takes me hours to key them in. Plus the type is so small my eyes have trouble focusing on them. In the end I cannot e-file this client because I have the basic program and basic does not have Form 8271 Tax Shelter Registration Form, so my client has to mail the return. It weights about 2 lbs. I would love not to have to enter all that on Sch. D but what else can one do.
IRS now accepts stock trades on an Excel spreadsheet that may be easier from the input standpoint. You should try to duplicate the order of the Sch D columns. You then put summary info in Sch D with a reference to an attachment. These returns can be e-filed but you have to send the attachment with Form 8453 to your particular IRS e-file center.
NYTaxGuy:
I think if you read the regs you will see the IRS wants the Schedule D info on Sched D, not on an attachment.

I got the postcard, too, but no longer have it. However, I also got a letter from CCH about ProSystem fx Tax software. Anyone know anything about this software? They are giving free seminars 6/3 - 7/17 in selected cities. The telephone # for info is 1-866-458-5121 and website is CCHGroup.com/SummerSeminars.
HI Debbie
You can do the attachment with the 8453. However we use a macro that will automatically transfer the sales form excel to proseries sch D. We have many other macros for proseries give me a call and I will walk you thru it. 203-481-0468

Thanks John, I am in the process of buying a new computer. When I do I will call and if you can help me out. My client with the many Sch D inputs has an extension so I will have a little time.. Deb
Instruction on p. 6 to Sch D state as follows:"Instead of reporting your transactions on Sch D and D-1, you can report them on an attached statement containing all the same information as Sch D and D-1 and in a similar format. Use as many Sc D-1 or attached statements as you need. Enter on Sch d lines 2 and 9 the combined totals for your Sch D-1 or the attched statements. Sometimes I don't read the regs if I can just read the instructions.
ProFX, that is the program we use at the CPA firm I work for. It is really good, but since it is such a powerful program, I am sure it is out of my range for purchasing. I would recommend it, but it is hard to navigate and it has its problems as well.
The cch program was always a good one. I've used it for many years working for other accts. Usually I'd do input sheets and then the sec'y would enter the info on the computer or they would send it to cch to in put.
One tax season I did do input sheets on the computer and that drove me crazy because you only see a 1/3 of the page at a time, so it was constantly scrolling up and down.
It's too pricey for my budget.
I've been happy with ProSeries.
Today I received a second postcard from Tax Refund Express. Adrianand, if you are still interested in checking it out the website is WWW.TRXALLIANCE.COM and the phone # is 866-829-9777. Anyone know anything about this program?

I have not heard of this software
