Under the discount breakdown on the Z-tape, does any one know how to find out what was discounted or returned to get this number?

you can easily go to the Reports menu item - choose sales and General Sales - Discount summary. The discount summary can be modified to the date that ties to your z-out report and from within the report you can drill down onto the details of the sales and products.
