This is correct. Intuit has discontinued the Express Edition for tax year 2007.

Features exclusive to the Express Edition such as the Client Snapshot view and RAL bank products will be rolled into the Professional version for next year.

Yes, this has been confirmed to me by Intuit's ProResolution Group as well as a very short curt letter I received from Intuit.

As far as the cost to buy the ProSeries Professional version is concerned, I was absolutely shocked. Once I figured out what we would need to purchase to prepare the same returns as we have done for the 2006 tax season it turns out that is is FOUR times the price of Express. We would have to purchase the networking version (not available in Basic), e-filing software for individual and business returns, several modules for preparing business returns, AND a number of pay per business returns at $30 each because we don't do enough of some of them to break even by purchasing a module (however, once you do 17 of a particular type, 1120S for example, you might as well pay the $499 for the module).

It is like someone has pulled the rug out from under us. We have been loyal customers since the late 80s! I have heard nothing about any replacement product. At this point it looks like there are only 3 choices - pay per return, basic and pro. As far as small/medium sole proprietors it looks like we have been left at the gate.

NONE of the recommended solutions (http://www.proseries.com/produ...) is a good fit for us. Express was.

See my other post about this in the ProSeries general section.
