We have been a user of the FAM system since its inital release but have had to work around a persistent bug for a couple of years.Fixed Asset Manager for tax years 2005 and 2006 require frequent rebuilds of Client Indexes (File->File Maintenance->Rebuild Files->Client IndexesWe are having to do this each time we open up a client file. Otherwise assets are not reported completely. Is anyone else having this problem, or is aware of what can be done to avoid it?

I have had the same problem. I have the application on my local machine. The data is on a server. Perhaps this has something to do with the problem. Where is your data stored?

Our situation is the same. We have peer sharing of files from a single "server" machine which is not used for anything else. The FAM network version is installed on that machine as a server/admin and then the individual stations are installed per the normal procedure. The rebuild problem has been present persistently in the last three years' releases. We run XP Pro on the server and XP Home on the workstations, and both are kept automatically updated with the latest XP releases as MS provides them.

Try unchecking the file compression box under tools>options then the clients tab

Then run client maintenance.
