Any mentors or advice out there for marketing/selling high end, handcrafted jewelry

I live in San Francisco and design and make 24k gemstone jewelry. Any mentors or advice out there for marketing/selling high end, handcrafted jewelry in a down market?

You need a marketing plan! If you contact your local Small Business Development Center (SBDC), they can provide free consulting and advice for you.

One of the best resources I have seen for hand-crafted jewelry is www.etsy.com

Hi Allezandrah,

To begin with you need to review your current marketing efforts.  What is working?  What results are you currently doing?  What are other high end handcrafted jewelry makers doing to attract customers?  Once you have this information start working on a marketing plan (templates available online).  The plan will help hold you accountable and layout what you are going to focus your interest on.

Some areas you may want to consider is designing a customized online jewelry store of your own while placing select pieces on other websites.  Or if you want to focus on your local market having your jewelry displayed in local shops or donate a piece to an auction event for a local charity your ideal clients will participate in.  Also start now to plan your holiday marketing campaigns.  You are too late for December holidays but plan now for Valentines Day and get your information out in mid January on a consistent basis (buyers need to see your ad multiple times to take action).

Wishing you productivity and prosperity,

Kim
