How many businesses can be run on one version of QB?

I am considering buying QB for my business. If I do bookkeeping for another business, do I have to buy QB for each business I do bookkeeping for?

I would  join the ProAdvsior program if you are going to be doing bookkeeping for clients.. You get a copy of the QBPro Accounting 2009 as well as a copy or QBES Accounting 9.0 and lot's of other items as well... $449.00.. worth the price... You can work in as many client files as you need to.. you just can have them all open at the same time...

oh and one more thing if you buy QBpro2009 Accounting you will be able to work in your clients QB 2008 files... only the QBpro 2009 accounting will allow you to do this..

You can have an unlimited number of companies in QuickBooks (limited only by your disk space). You can only have one company open at any given time within the same version (year) of QuickBooks (i.e., QuickBooks 2009 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions v9 cannot be open at the same time, but QuickBooks 2009 (or QBES v9) can be open at the same time as QuickBooks 2008 and QuickBooks 2007).
