Thinking about starting my own bookkeeping business. My degree is in Finance, but I've done AP & AR in the past. My current experience is with Fund Accounting. Do you think it will be hard to parlay my experience into a successful business?

Not at all. Check out the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. They have a self study program that will put you on the right track. Since you already have a degree in finance, it should be a breeze for you. I also recommend becoming a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor since most small business clients will be using this program for keeping their records. The most important thing is defining your goals and finding the clients that can support those objectives.

I agree with Dante's great advice. You can find more info about the ProAdvisor Program at http://proadvisor.intuit.com and here's a quick video overview of why I recommend people join the program: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnICQBash4k&feature=channel_page
