If you have backup versions after the monthly close you could restore them. Short of that (I backup but don't save the old backups rather override them) you determine what involves more work from the options. The options depend on how large your file is, how many years of data, how many transactions over the last 5 months. You may want to search the help tool to see if you can restore a file thru a certain date rather than the full file.
