Quickbooks for mac is crashing in snow leopard. Is there a fix?

I just got off the phone from Intuit tech support. He said Snow Leopard is not supported for QuickBooks 2009.
The only solution he offered was reinstalling QuickBooks. However, he said it may or may not resolve the issue.
I noticed QB 2009 was working fine and then it crashed. It seemed to only increase with frequency after the first crash.

I have also upgraded to Snow Leopard/Mac. For me, I can do some things in QuickBooks 2009, but one thing I can't do - it immediately causes QuickBooks to Quit - is Receive Payments.
I see on the QuickBooks Support site, they are working on an R8 patch for Snow Leopard. I should have waited on Snow Leopard until I closed my books for August. But am finding work arounds. Now my Crash Reporter is Crashing.
Receive payments = Instant crash, Crash reporter also crashes.
Everything else seems ok, connect to bank, etc.
Also, don't try and verify / rebuild data. Says it's bad, and probably not.
Received Payments isn't working, everything else seems to be working in Quick books. but now the Crash Reporter is freezing up while trying to send the crash report. Is this a Snow Leopard problem or is it an Intuit problem? I guess I'll be stopping by my local Apple Store.

Snow Leopard changed the location where crash logs are stored. OmniOutliner got an update for that as well. I think Apple may have added a link to the old directory at the last minute.
There seem to be problems with registration, receive payments, and sometimes the pop up menus ("combo boxes"). Not sure how common all these are. Again, its best to await an update. There may be other problems as well that haven't been discovered yet.
The registration should only effect people who have not yet registered. But I don't know if it is a problem if you migrate to a new machine after installing snow leopard (or as part of it).
for me quickbooks crashes when I try to add a customer message on the bottom of an invoice. I ended up going back to 10.5.8 for now because I also had issues printing to my epson r800 printer.

KAZOO, that was a smart move. Everyone should stick with Leopard until Intuit is able to put out the R8 update for QuickBooks 2009 for Mac.
Hey Kazoo - I am a newer MAC user, just over a year - can you give a little detail as to how you went backwards to 10.5.8? - I got my computer last year with OSX LEOPARD and was up to date (10.5.8) before upgrading to SNOW LEOPARD. What do I do to return the OS to the old one? I am afraid of loosing any data - I run a BIZ off that as I'm sure we all do - and I back up data to a flash drive so I can restore from it when done. Please advise - I would appreciate any help anyone can give me as I am "DOWN" until I correct this problem. - THANKS
If you have Time Machine, you could restore from a it.... Is that possible?
I went back to my old system using my time machine back up. If you have one, it's an easy way to go. I started from the OS install disk just like you are going to reinstall the original OS, went to the utilities menu and selected the time machine restore option and follow the on screen instructions. Took a little while to complete but I have my old system back just the way I left it at the last back up.
The other option, if you don't have a full system back up, is not quite as nice but is an option none the less. You need to reinstall your original system from the install discs that came with the computer and start all over installing all the programs (and updates) you want to run. You loose all your settings, passwords, program updates and such but at least you have an operational quickbooks again, assuming you have your quickbooks data backup that you can restore from. Like I said, not nearly as nice an option as time machine back up method but it will get you back up and running.
As a side note, now I always make a back up of all my stuff using time machine (or I also have a carbon copy of my whole system on another drive too) just before I make any major changes to the OS. I learned my lesson the hard way 8 or 10 years ago and had to restore from the OS discs like the second option I mentioned above- kind of a pain in the butt. Now with 2 different back ups I know I am covered and getting back something lost or to a time before I started having problems is really easy.
I just received a call back from support that informed me that it will be "a week or so" until the update will be available and she suggested that I revert back to the Leopard OS until then. Can anyone walk me through those steps, I am on a new Mac that came with Leopard, but was upgraded to Snow Leopard with purchase.

BusyBusyGirl, I suggest that you call Apple's support. I'm sure that your new Mac is still under warranty.
I had the same problem and was able to tab through the fields without a crash. Save my butt as Quicken support said wait two weeks....
Just talked with tech support. They said an update would be ready within the next week (by 9/11 ?). In the mean time, to bypass the inability to register and thus use up your 15 logins, trash QB 2009 when you reach the limit and reinstall. Nice. What, did Apple forget to lift the rock everyone at Intuit is living under and tell them it was coming out with a new OS?

The official support policy for Snow Leopard and QuickBooks for Mac—QuickBooks 2009 for Mac will be supported under Snow Leopard when the R8 release comes out (expected this month), but no patch will be issued for QuickBooks Pro 2007 for Mac or any earlier version.

Scroll down to Ian Vacin's Sept. 2, 2009, 10:38 PM post to read the complete details.
Try loading Roseta from your Snow Leopard install disk, restart and try Quickbooks again. This worked form me and I now have Quickbooks fully functional on a new Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. I also can print to a new HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi MFP printer which I could not do prior to installing Roseta.
I think it would be helpful, especially for those of us who are dead in the water, if there was a update on when we can expect a FIX for Quickbooks running on a Snow Leopard OS. It is just good PR for Intuit to do such a thing, because the longer this goes on with nothing from Intuit the more my bosses are ready to scrap the program.
