Workmans comp insurance company recommendation

Can someone recommend a good insurance company for workmans comp insurance? I own a temp employment agency for truckdrivers and I received a quote for $12,899 annually and want to know if this is good or bad.

I am no expert but here it is based on your industry and your payroll. Some industries pay more than others. I know driver rates are considerably higher than others. Just be careful, if someone quotes you a considerably lower total you might still be responsible for the balance when the insurance company sends its auditor out to look at this year's payroll, next year.

You might want to sign on with a payroll service that provides pay-as-you-go workers comp coverage. That way there are no surprises.

Building on the previous answer, there are insurance carriers that offer "pay as you go" options which enable you to pay workers' comp premiums one payroll at a time based on your actual payroll data (typically with no large upfront down payment).

It never hurts to get a couple of comparison quotes and then determine which works best for your business.

For options that work with QuickBooks Payroll, Intuit has information posted at:

Hi there - Would you mind sharing where you got to on this?  I have a client who is a temp staffing agency for nannies/caregivers and they are having trouble getting workmans comp at a reasonable price, if at all - the quote they received is more than their payroll.  Intuit's Hartford product turned them down, as did several others.  They may have to go with a staff leasing company rather than employing the caregivers themselves.  Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Also meant to ask...would you mind sharing the name and contact details for the company that gave you the quote, so that my client can try them?
