Are you saying that in your Customer Center you are missing the Search Customers box?

Hi bdoty,

Try opening a sample company and see if the same thing happens there. If it does, then it is something with the installation (very rare on a Mac!). Try trashing the preferences and if absolutely necessary, re-installing.

If this is only happening in the sample company, then time for our good friend Debi's list blessing! Here is a link to here task list. Make sure you do everything she suggests here!

Please let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. If it does help, please consider marking it helpful or solved!

Best regards,

Amy

In any reports, accounts receivable, sales etc., when mouse is used to click on amount a magnifying glass appears double clicking makes invoice open. I am unable to open anything. I have to go to create invoices and use previous to see it.

This happens in new company as well. I tried updating the Quickbooks version as well with no change.

What preferences do I need to trash?

If I trash the application what effect will that have on my current company file?

Try running a File->Verify and then a File-Rebuild.

The preference file to trash is located in your user (Home) Library. Here's the path:

[user/Home]/Library/Preferences/com.intuit.QuickBooks2009.plist

Trashing quickbook preference did not help. Can I trash app and reinstall without issue to current file?

Before reinstalling, try Biscotti's suggestion on 6/15/09 at 10:44 AM and let us know how that goes. I'm no expert, but I wouldn't expect this to be a problem with QuickBooks itself but a corrupted preference (you trashed it with QB shut down, right?), a data file problem (hence Biscotti's suggestion), or even a Mac user account problem (more on that if the rebuild doesn't work).

Trashed preference file with Quickbooks off. Did file verify and rebuild before and after trashed preference. I trashed an application I had sitting around not used that could have been downloaded about the same time this issue started. No change.

Any other Ideas.

I wonder whether your user account on your Mac might have become corrupted.

To test this theory, create a new user account on your Mac. Then navigate to where your company file is located in your regular user account and double-click the file to open it. (If necessary, change the file's Sharing & Permissions settings in the Finder to allow the new account to "Read & Write.")

If your problems with QuickBooks behavior disappear in the new user account, then your other one is likely corrupt. To my knowledge, there's no way to fix a corrupt user account.

Post back with your results, okay?

I cured it today.

After 4 hours for file trashing, reloading etc I noticed the magnifying glass came on when I clicked Quickbooks feed back (opened Safari) and then right clicked back to open invoices. The next thing I noticed was the > < arrows on selected invoice did not move when clicked with mouse. I then tried the keyboard up/down and it moved with keyboard and enter to open any invoice. I trashed mouse software/ reload and all is good.

Thank you all for taking the time to help with this issue.
