Thinking about getting into franchise business?

Every once in a while, I would ask myself, "What does being your own boss feel like? Should I open my own business? Is getting into franchise a safer route?"Today I found this great blog on "Doing Your Homework" from one of my community colleagues. Check out the Thoughts from the Gurus [ http://www.quickbooksgroup.com... ] !

I subscribe to the newsletter from SCORE http://score.org/.  If you don't, you are really missing out.  The august newsletter is all about franchises and they said this -
Q:
You recommend talking to other franchise owners as part of the research
process. What kinds of questions should you ask?

A: Ask them about what they do every day to
succeed. Also, ask whether their franchise ownership expectations are being
met?what they do, start-up and training support from the franchisor and so
forth. You can never ask too many questions. After all, you're paying the
franchise fee up front, so you want to make sure you receive the most from that
investment.

I'd recommend a franchise broker also (since I am one!). Not only do they know the franchise world, in many cases, they've worked for franchisors and/or been a franchisee themselves. And because of the way that franchise laws are written, the client (you) doesn't pay anything for their services.
