Payroll-scheduled or unscheduled for Christmas Checks

What's the difference between an unscheduled and scheduled payroll. I'm doing Christmas bonus checks in a nonpayroll week. Would this be unscheduled?

It would probably be easier to create the checks using the "unscheduled" payroll. Be sure you enter the dates that you need.
If you use a scheduled payroll, it will use the dates on that schedule, then roll them forward to the next scheduled payroll. So you would have to go in and reset the dates if you did that.

Keep in mind that if you just want to pay the bonus and not pay any other regular pay, and not withhold any Employee contributions to 401k, Insurance premiums, etc., you will have to override those amounts at the time you create the bonus checks.

The bonus is subject to all normal federal and state income tax withholding as well as SS and Medicare.

I hope this helps. Let us know by marking this post as "Solved" or "Helpful",

Thanks.
