Referrals from CPA firms

Someone was telling me that you shouldn't do both bookkeeping and tax if you want to get referrals from CPA firms to do bookkeeping because these firms would not want the competition for the tax returns. Is there any truth to that?

As a CPA I would have to say that is true. The only exception might be if you only did personal tax and not partnership or corporate. The I might be willing to send a corporate client that used QB.

I wouldn't refer a potential bookkeeping client to someone who did tax. Plenty of bookkeepers who only keep books that I can send that business to.

Hey, we get sig files now! Cool - I wonder what I'll put here? Ah, I know: RTFM.
