Billable expense

Billable expenses. Why isn't the item showing up when I choose the expense? It shows rate but nothing else? I
I create a bill and put in the item "billable expense". I would then make an invoice and select the expense. The amount shows up but no item or description. If I try to put an item in, it erases the amount. This didn't do this before?
