I'm also an electrical contractor and I've had some sucess using craig's list. It's free and it does pull up with web searches and allows me some additional contacts. Best of Luck.

Steve

Hi,

I recommend like Steven57 did to use Craigslist in your community.  Also ask for referrals from your existing client base-they may know someone who is building a home, or needs your services.  Make sure you have a presence on local.google.com and Yahoo local listings.  Send letters of interest to business that are similiar but do not provide the services that you provide and exchange referrals with them.

Get involved in your community, attend meetups and events where you can hand out balloons with your business card attached to the string, magnets or pens, place an ad magnet on your vehicle, etc.  Just a few ideas to help!
