One way is to set up an income account called "tithes and offerings"
The money could recorded as income and be deposited into your churches checking account .
I have done that but it wont let me do the deposit without and invoice and I have no idea on what the item is to put on the invoice can I deposit without doing and invoice?
And do you know how to print the receipts at the end of the year?
Membership Plus Software is excellent for recording tithing and is capable of printing receipts for End of Year

If you want to track offerings separate from tithes, create two items - one for each type of donation. When you receive the money use a Sales receipt transaction to record the donation - enter the donor name (customer) so you can track each donor's giving. You can post both types of donations to a single income account (Donations) - your reports for details come from the Item reports, not the general ledger.

Re: End of Year Letters - QB can't do this. You don't have to buy software to enter the donations, you just need a third party add-on that will read your QB files and produce the letters. The best (and most reasonably priced) is from www.beyondtheledgers.com.
