Quickbooks Pro 2010 takes a long time to load. Why?
Why does 2010 Pro take so long to load?
Why does 2010 Pro take so long to load?
Hi Chuck,
Sorry to hear that it takes long. Could you help me understand the problem by telling us:
- Your operating system
- The size of your company file (you can right click on the QBW file and look at the size)
- The hardware that you are running on
thanks
Siddharth
I am running XP Home. File size is about 7,000 KB. My computer is a Gateway with Pentium 4 processor, 3 GHZ with 2.49 GB RAM, Hardrive is 150 GB.
Hi Chuck,
your machine specs seem good. How long does Quickbooks take to load for you? Do you see slowness only with QuickBooks, or do other programs also take a long time?
I am seeing similar behaviour:
When I first installed Quickbooks 2010 Pro, it was 'ok' at loading. Wasn't super fast, but usually within 10 seconds. Now it's a few minutes, and I only just started a company file.
I did have errors on installing updates through the help menu, which forced me to download the manual R2 update, which was successful. The Help menu updates dialog still says "Error #15247" for "Maintenance Releases", however.
Uninstalled and reinstalled. No help. I hope someone has an answer... preferably someone from Intuit!
Thanks,
James
I have a similar problem. The install went ok. But now i cant get it to load at all.
Chuck , a couple of requests:
could you hit 'F2' on your keyboard? One of the things that will be displayed is the number of transactions and number of list items. could you please post those numbers?
Second, it is possible that there is a problem with the data file. You can go to file->utilities->verify and post the results.
Finally, if the file size is really large, I suggest going to file->utilities->clean up and remove some of your old transactions
... this is just another subjective observation. I am also running quickbooks pro 2010. I feel that sometime in the last 2 months load time significantly slowed down. I'm running 2.8ghz dual core with 6gb ram on with windows 7. It takes 30 seconds or more to show up with the password box to get into my company file.... much slower than when I first started using quickbooks. Other programs on my computer do not have the same issue.
I have not noticed a significant difference in the loading time since upgrading to 2010. I have, however, noticed an ENORMOUS difference in the online banking time! To the point that it's extremely frustrating and discouraging. Before upgrading from 2008, the online banking went quickly and smoothly. Now, it sometimes takes up to 5 minutes to move from the "Updating Financial Information" screen to the "Sending Online Instructions" screen. It then can take up to 15 minutes to actually allow me to click on view to see my banking transactions. Sometimes, I get an error to try again in 15 minutes. I've called my bank and there are no issues from their end. This is a QuickBooks problem that came with the upgrade. Any help is appreciated!
I am having a similar issue with QB Premier 2010, however I narrowed it down to a new credit card machine installed on the network. For some reason the machine, when connected, creates agonizingly slow network connection speed to the host for Quickbooks connections only... Anyone else dealt with this?
