Laserjet 4100 and Windows 7 64 bit printer problem

Lacerte

Trying to print a 2009 return on a LaserJet 4100. Using Windows 7 64 bit. Printer hangs about 10 seconds between each page. Downloaded latest printer driver but doesn't seem to help. Any ideas about how to fix this?

I had printer problems when I initially installed Windows 7 on an existing workstation. My trusty Brother 8840DN multifunction printer does not have a Windows 7 driver. I corrected this issue by installing the Windows 7 XP Mode. I installed the printer software on the XP mode and it works great. I am very impressed with Microsoft for this feature.

In order to do Windows XP mode, your system should have at least 2GB of RAM. However, to make sure everything runs like it should, I recommend that the minimum system configuration for running Windows XP should be at least 4GB of RAM. You listed that you have a 64 bit OS, so I assume you already have at least 4GB of RAM already.

You may also want to consider adding a second monitor to your desktop if you don't already have one. Keep in mind, that if you install Windows XP mode, you'll need to install Lacerte on the Windows XP mode machine, as well.
