Invoicing prepaid orders

US QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions

My customer wants to pay a deposit on an order and is asking for an invoice before she pays the deposit. The problem is we do not have the items in stock and are not shipping for another 4 months. Can I create an invoice and not mess up inventory?
