file name of pdf sales receipt

Hello,When I use the QB e-mail functionality to e-mail a sales receipt, the pdf file has "Cash_Sale_" at the beginning... even though I have Mastercard selected as Payment Method on the sales receipt. How can I edit the filename... or at least fix it so that it properly states the payment method?Thanks!-Dave

Hello Dave,
Thank You for your question. Unfortunately, there is no way to edit the PDF file name when you email it directly from QuickBooks. You can edit the message that accompanies that PDF by going to Edit>Preferences>Send Forms>Company Preferences, but not the PDF. The only option is to save the PDF to your desktop, change the file name, and then attach it to the email and send it yourself. The way you do this is to:
1. With the receipt on the screen, go to File>Save as PDF.
2. When the "Save As" screen comes up, click desktop and change the File Name to Whatever You Want.PDF. Then save.
You will have to send this as an attachment through your normal email. I know this probably wasn't the answer you were looking for, but I hope it was helpful.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the reply Jim!

Yeah, not really what I had hoped to hear... doing it that way adds more steps (time) to my order processing.

I would tend to view this as a bug since sales receipts with the credit card payment method selected are being named "Cash_Sale_xxx.pdf". I guess I'll call in and submit a bug fix request.

Thanks!
-Dave

Did a bug fix report get entered for this? If so, is the fix available?

I have just purchased 2010. Is the problem corrected in this version? I suspect no but it's worth asking. Also, is it possible to have another file automatically attached with the PDF sales receipt? For example, whenever I email a customer I always include the same instructions with the sales receipt. Thanks for any input.

Hello Watershed, (and others)

A sales receipt in QuickBooks is also called a cash sale and that it why it shows the .pdf name as Cash_Sale, it's not based on the type of payment that was used on the sales receipt.

Sorry for the confusion, I would recommend that you send feedback to the developers by selecting Send Feedback Online from the Help drop down menu. Let them know that "Sales_Receipt" would be a better alternative in this case.

Respectfully,
Bryan
