My Layout Designer crashes when trying to customize an invoice. It works on my other imacs. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the usual preliminary fix-it efforts: repairing permissions, trashing preferences (with QBP closed), and so forth?

Here's my problem... Layout Designer launches (but I didn't notice the first couple of times, since it didn't come to the front) and I can see the menu across the top, I can even "choose" a template, or use the open command to get to an existing template, but once I choose, NOTHING happens. No window, no error, no template... I tried it on both my G5 tower and G4 Powerbook, same thing. I tried repairing permissions, installing a fresh copy, etc. NO LUCK! Please help, I would really like to revise my invoice. " )

Whenever I try to edit an existing custom invoice template, Layout designer doesn't let me save my changes. I click save and the pop up window will disappear making me think it saved my changes, but when I try to close the document, the same window pops up asking if I want to save it, and then I can't close that. I have to force quit the program and it doesn't save my changes. I used to not have this problem at all and it recently started. Please help me! I need to edit my invoices! I am not very familiar with disk utility...and I'm not sure how to reinstall layout designer by itself.

Thanks!

Same thing here. I am wondering if such problems are systemic with Intuit. It does appear that they regard Mac users as a nuisance, and not as paying customers. I base that on my difficulties with Quicken for Mac and the features that QuickBooks lacks when compared to the Windoze version.

I may have found a work-around. I tried repairing permissions, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Neither did the reboot. However, when I chose "Save As..." on my custom invoice and saved it as different name ("custom invoice2"), that made Layout Designer save the changes. "Saving As..." and replacing the existing file might work too--I didn't try that.
Now, if I could just get my custom text box at the bottom to not truncate/cut off the text when I print it....

Hi,
I se kvan has answered his/her own question, but try using "save as" instead of save, and you may have to rename it or it may let you save it using the current title.

This is for QB 2009 Mac, but it might apply: https://community.intuit.com/post/detail/bvlW3qUpSr3y38acfAtdLo
