Have quickbooks pro 2010.Put starting date of 12/31/08. My husbands pulls mobile homes. May pull one month & not get pd. for 2 months. Had two invoices that were 12/10 & 12/13 of 08, but not pd. until Jan. & Feb.of 09. Will I have problems with date?

No, not at all...but

When you started 2009, did you enter any outstanding/non-paid invoices in QBs at startup entries for 2008 or not?  Quickbooks is so easy to use for small businesses but it is "very date sensitive". Do you want to make your first entries for this company only in 2009 or go back and pick up activity for 2009?

From an accounting point of view its important to take into account the Income tax return you may have filed for 2008 or 2009 plans to file.

There is no problem picking your company starting date on qbs as 2010 but if your bank statements reveal a deposit for income from 2008 on 2009, we need to be diligent about how you record 2009 income in 2010.  Again it can be done, but I need more specifics before I can advise you at this point.

Thanks for your great questions and I have 15 years using/teaching quickbooks and will more than happy to help you with this.
