subaccount box is greyed out

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2009

I am attempting to create a subaccount in QB 2009 to a new account. Once I've created the new account, the "subaccount of" checkbox is greyed out and won't allow me to choose it. Is there something simple I'm missing? Thanks!

The type of account must be the same. For example, you can't have an expense account as a sub account of a bank account.

MRosie, I have the same exact problem.  After I create an account, it the checkbox next to "Subaccount of" is greyed out.  It doesn't matter which "Account Type" is chosen for the new account, I've tried them all and none of them allow me the option of checking the "Subaccount of" to then select the parent account and complete the making of the new (sub)account.  Any ideas?..... I'm running QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Accountant 10.0 on Windows XP
