Why am I unable to open statement writer; I get fatal error

Intuit statemt writer: I try to open, and get to where excel opens and then get message "fatal error". suggested reinstalling qb's, which I have done. using qb 2010 and excel 07

Go to www.quickbooks.com/support and search for a knowledgebase article there. I had to delete the iswruntime.dat file and let it re-create it.
