User options - problems rolling from 2008 to 2009 Lacerte

Lacerte

Our personal user options rolled just fine for everyone in office in Individual tax module, but none of the other modules. The technician who handled the installation says he thinks he did everything carefully and in proper order, so those other options should have rolled. What do we need to do now to roll them for P, C, S, F, and T? Thanks.

I haven't installed my '09 program yet, so I don't know if it's drastically different from prior years, but the last few years there has been only one options file, and it handles all the modules.  Presumably if you can roll "opt001.w8" into "opt001.w9" then all the options should be the way they were the prior year.  Also, I am a stand-alone user, so maybe you're writing about a problem that can happen only with network users.

If it's impossible to get the P, C, S, etc., '08 options to become '09 options, maybe you should re-create the desired options one at a time (by printing out the opt001.w8 file, then printing out what you now have in the '09 program, and editing the '09 file) and then copy your resulting opt001.w9 file as OptSave.W9 so it will always be saved, and then copy that file to other users that want the same options (or, if everyone wants different options, go thru the manual process on all of them asnd have them all save to OptSaveAmy.W9 and OptSaveBetty.W9, etc. -- which can then be copied again as Opt001.W9 if necessary, on certain people's computers).

Back up before it's too late

In the 2009 program and then go to the Settings menu > Transfer Prior Year Settings.  Click the check box next to each item you want to transfer from the 2008 program.  Do this for each module.
