I run Quickbooks for Mac 2009 on a wireless Leopard server connected with 3 mini macs. I experiencing the following problem.

Every time a try to open my Quickbooks data file from the server it take me a lot of time (5 till 7) minutes.

When a run set the data file on one of the mini mac and run the data file it runs without any problem.

Can anybody help out with this problem.

One other problem I experiencing is that I cannot condense data.

I have try this to see what happened with the performance of opening a data file from the server but it didn’t help.

Hope somebody can help.

1. I presume you are not trying to open the QB data file with more than one remote computer at a time.

2. Have you verified that you have good performance from the server overall? Do any other files or programs have trouble?

3. Is the QB2009 program on the Mini? You should not try to run the actual program over the network. With the program installed on each Mini, it will run locally and fetch the data file via the network.

Leo, what happens when you try to condense the data?

Hi gxnprvby,

Thanks for information.

1. I am not trying to open the QB data file with more than one remote computer at a time. I know that it is not a multi-user version. I only open one at a time. Close it and then open it on an other Mac mini.

2. Yes I have good performance from the server. No other files or programs do not have this trouble.

3. Yes the Quickbooks is on each mini and runs locally and fetch the data file via the network.

Leo, to address your Condense problem: there is an issue in the R5 release where the condense utility does not complete. So nothing *really* has been condensed.

For future reference, in order for a condense to be effective transactions must meet a pretty strict set of criteria. For instance, anything marked "to be Printed" won't be condensed. Transactions containing inventory won't be condensed. Payments made by your customer must be deposited AND that account fully reconciled on your condense date. Read your in-product Help for more detail.
