Have you downloaded "The Official Guide to QuickBooks Accounting 2009 for Mac"? The free eBook you get when you purchase QuickBooks for Mac (Help>User's Guide)? We want to hear what you think about it. What did you like? What could make it better for you?

I'm a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor. I found great info in the ebook while I was working with a Mac user client. I called the ProAdvisor hotline to ask if I could get own copy of the ebook or a link. I don't own a Mac or the Mac software, but would love to have this reference. The Intuit rep told me there wasn't a Mac User Guide.

I've only glanced at a few parts, so I can't give an authoritative answer. In the little I have seen so far, it appeared that the author had only rewritten what was already in the application's own Help file. I would have liked more in-depth information.

Of course, I could be wrong---since I've read so little of the guide---and hopefully, I am!

I have to add this: I'm REALLY happy that there is a book for QB 2009 for Mac. I believe that nobody wrote one for QB 2007 for Mac.

I'd like to see Intuit make this download available to QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisors. It just makes sense!

Thanks for the comments! I'll see what I can do regarding the Pro Advisors. That's a great idea. Anyone else? We really do want to hear what you have to say.

Thanks so much Shelbelle. I forgot to mention the section I found so useful was about applying existing credits. Good info on how the preferences settings effect the procedure. I did find that I couldn't print just a single page from the ebook. Though that may have been because of the specific printer driver my client has.

Hi Michele...thanks for the thumbs up on the existing credits info. I'll pass that along. As for printing, what version of Acrobat Reader are you using? I'm using V9 on both a Mac and Win machine and I'm seeing a page range option on both. (On the Mac you need to click the arrow next to the printer name to see the full set up options.) Of course, it could be the printer driver as you said but just a thought:-)

kukyhuber, how is the ebook manual cumbersome? It's easy to see the TOC in either Preview or Adobe Reader (or Acrobat), and easy to conduct searches.

Doesn't address the payroll change for people switching from PC. Seems to be alot of questions on that in the community. Mine included

I have tried a couple QB training classes online and I learned the PC and Mac versions have different interfaces. Whenever I ask someone a question they are usually PC and it does not look the same on the Mac version. Pretty annoying that there is no relevant online training I have found, if someone knows of one online for Mac pro QB 07 please let me know.

Hi zephyrmike,

Have you looked at the tutorials included with your version of QuickBooks? You can get to the tutorial center from the Help menu. Hope that helps!

Hi! The download website for the e-book had some technical difficulties recently. Should be working OK now. Can you please try it again?

Mnuser925, how are you trying to download it? From within QuickBooks or are you going to the website listed on the inserts that came with your software? I've just tried both and it works for me. Just in case you need it, you can go to the URL:

www.qbmac09.com

Enter your contact information and user this access code:

n82ScT

Let us know if that does the trick.

Shelbelle,

Thanks for your efforts, but I still get the screen that says "It Works". I have tried from the QuickBooks Help drop down, and I have tried from www.qbmac09.com The address below is what shows up in the address box.

http://books.mcgraw-hill.com/e...

I just tried this address, but eliminated index.php and it worked. I did use the access code you provided for me. Yeah!!! I'm a happy camper. Now I have some learning to do.

Thanks, Mike

Mike, I'm so glad you finally got the PDF. I'll pass on the details of the problem you experienced and hopefully we can prevent anyone else from running into this.

Happy learning! Also, be sure to check the Help system, the Support site, and this community if you have any questions. The user community for QuickBooks for Mac is awesome!

I just followed the link (with index.php), and it went right to the McGraw Hill page for the downloadable eBook.

Yes, I have. It seems fine. However, I'll sure miss the little book that came with QB for Mac 2007, Startup and Quick Reference Guide (87pp.). Although less pages and less info, some of us use traditional reference books with more ease, so I second the lament sent to you 01/05/09.

It was great to have the keyboard shortcuts, index, and instrux printed out and not have to toggle back and for between e-page windows and document.

By having them mail me my upgrade, I was hoping there was one for QB 2009 for Mac. Instead there's only this eBook.

Let me know if there is something like this to be included in the future.
