Quickbooks is a double entry account system you just don't see it. If you are posting a sale that you take in cash it will post to the bank account. You can turn that off so it will post to undeposited funds, Go to Preferences and select Sales and Customers then select Company Preferences then put a check in the box for Use Undeposited funds as a default deposit to account.

I just didn't understand how to use the software. I thought I could go to my register and enter data history from my checkbook. But I figured out you have to go to Write Checks to enter data. That is confusing to me. I would have thought that you would click that to actually write and print out a check. I use to use an old basic Quicken where you could update your account by going to your register. Thanks for the help.

You can also enter data in the bank account register without having to go to the view check. That is not a problem at all.
