Did you forget the password? Just go to Edit, preferences, accounting, company preferences, set date and password and give it a new password. That should reset it for you.

Hope this helps. If it does, please mark solved. If not, please ask more questions. Thanks!

thank you, but I still am having a problem. I set my dividing date incorrectly and now my message is: an accountant's copy has been created from this company file. While your accountant is working on your file, you can only work on transactions dated after 06/29/2009.

How can I change this?

THANKS SO MUCH!!

The solution

Oh, I thought you meant you were locked out of a dividing date for closing your general records (a restriction you put in to keep your data preserved).

If you are talking an Accountant's file, you need to go to file, on left top side of screen, select accountants copy, client activities and remove restrictions. Then you should be able to work in the data file.

Be sure that you want to do this. If your accountant has your records (for tax filing) and wants to modify them for you, he will return the accountant's copy and you will merge the two data files. If you select remove restrictions, you will no longer be able to do this.

Hope this helps. If it does, please mark solved. If not, please ask more questions. Thanks!
