Copy Master User Options To A New Computer

How do I copy the master user options to a new computer? I have tried restoring the system file path and that works for a little while but the next time I use Lacerte it is using the default user options. Restoring the system file path doesn't seem to affect the master user options, only the user options.

Perhaps copying OPT001.w7 from the old computer, to the new computer, will copy the options you like. I'm not quite sure what your question means, so I hope I'm not answering a "different" question.

There also used to be a way to back up the whole "options" subdirectory, to another spot (such as perhaps a "stick disk?") and then restore options from the place where they were backed up. I do not see where that is any more; maybe it's that "system file path" that you tried, but maybe that doesn't impact the "options" path.

Perhaps taking the whole OPTION07 subdirectory (a/k/a Folder) and copying it to a stick disk and then to the other computer, will copy ALL files in the options subdirectory -- your specialized letters and bills, if you did them, as well as the OPT001.w7 file and several other files. I'm not quite sure what "master" user options are, as opposed to "user options," so I hope this is of some help.

Sincerely,

Amy

Lacerte Support told me I need to set up the options manually in the new computer because Lacerte keeps track of user options by user name and machine name. Since I have a Lacerte network license I also have master options which can apply to all computers on my network. If I had used master options then I could have transferred them to my new computer. So I should use master options in the future.
