Updating from QB 2003 Basic data files. Can I use SimpleStart to convert that file?

US QuickBooks Simple Start

I have QB 2003 Basic data on disk from old crashed hard drive. Can I import that data into QuickBooks Simple Start? .Our company is really small and we don't need all the bells and whistles.  However, I already have close to half of the year on the disk, so would like to not have to manually enter the info.  I have found conflicting information in the Community question/answer forum.  Does anyone know if I can upload my data into Simple Start?

 Simple Start was designed to be your first version of QuickBooks and will not convert older versions of QuickBooks.  You will need Pro or higher to convert an older QuickBooks file.

Depending on how much you need to convert the old file, you can always start a new file in Simple Start.
