I assign ea customer a code (using the "Customer Name" field on the customer file) which I enter into the Customer:Job field of the sales receipt to pull up the customer's info. I then want that code printed out on my customized Sales Receipt. How do I get it to print out on the receipt?
Go to List, Templates, Layout Designer, and then you should be able to load it up through Add Data Field.
Thanks, but...been there, done that. There is no corresponding data field to the Customer Name, or to Customer:Job.
Hi again, John.
In "Additional Customization" for the sales receipt there is a field in the Header tab labeled "Project/Job" - that would be the "job" portion of the customer:job field. Not exactly what you are looking for, but that is getting a bit closer.
Other than that, you can add a "custom field' to your customer records and store the information there, which you can then add in the "Additional Customization" section. Or, in the Layout Designer, you can pick some other field that you are not using otherwise, such as the customer alt contact, and add that (and enter your values in that field in the customer record).
Other than that, you have to either try to create your own sales receipt forms by using the ODBC driver (or something similar), which is complicated, or getting someone to write a custom program for you (we can add those fields in a custom form), which costs additional $

Hi Charley, The frustrating thing is that I had it working when I first customized my Sales Receipt (even have a test print with the code on it) using the header "Account #" under "Additional Customization". Now for some reason thatr doesn't work...could I have disabled the Account #??? I tried "Project (no 'Job' showing on my hearers??) but nothing printed out. How are the data fields identified?? Is this the "Account #", etc. designation?? I'm still looking, I'll try the "custom fields", but the code is already in each customer record under "Customer Name" and I don't see that data field anywhere else (which is strange considering everyone else uses it as the customer name!!)
Account # is a field in the Customer record, open a name using Edit, it is on Payment Info tab. This field is easy to add to a template, and you can use it along with putting the same info in Customer Name. Maybe that's what you were doing and then forgot?
