Theft is theft, no matter how it's described. If you feel bad about prosecuting, then just terminate the employee, but make sure he or she knows that you decided not to prosecute because of your past history with the employee.

The number one unreported employee theft is payroll theft. It is almost accepted by owners and managers that payroll theft is a cost of doing business.

My product APT (automated productivity tools) tracks worker activity in several ways. One of the best uses of APT is the GPS cellphone time-clock login. Employees can't clock in if they are not at the correct remote location. APT works well for in-house staff too. You can set APT to only accept a login from an employee if they are at their specific phone extension, typically at their desk.
