Fair Pay regulations
Here is an issue that I ran into personally this year (2006 has been like that ancient curse...may it be an interesting year LOL).... federal Fair Pay regulations. And I just stumbled across a US Dept of Labor - Wage and Hours Division website that helps explain this law. [ http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/co... ] Keep in mind that I am no lawyer and any legal questions should be referred to your own legal advisor or accountant. But as I understand the law, if an employee makes less than 23,660 per year or 455 a week, they are entitled to overtime. You can't just call that employee "salaried" with the expectation of not paying overtime. I'm not sure how many business owners are aware of this Act. If you know more about it, have an opinion about it, or have other links, jump right in and post a reply. DennisEureka!: News for the Small Business Community [ http://www.quickbooksgroup.com... ]
