Error: "File you specified cannot be opened" (different than "file specified cannot be found") Vista

US QuickBooks Premier : 2008: Accountant

I installed QB premier accountant 2008 on windows vista-I'm getting error message "The file you specified cannot be opened. Make sure it is not currently being used by another program or read only file. The Windows error was "The file exists"." I see similar posts for "file cannot be found" but my error is "cannot be opened". QB is open (no other apps are open) and this message appears immediately; you can see the following path above the title bar (home, customer center, vendor center, etc.): C:\Users\Public\Doents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files\jeannette marie card designs.QBW - QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2008, which I did set up (system defaulted to this path and I accepted it) when I initially tried to install previous to this try - on first try, I got thru 1st screen of Easy Interview and so did name my company file before same message appeared. I uninstalled and tried to re-install (system showed install was successful) and am getting the same error message right away now. There is only an OK button and no matter how many times I click it, same message appears and I can only "end task" or reboot to get out of the screen. I currently have Windows Vista and I believe I previously had Windows XP.

I would try closing out of quickbooks completely then right clicking the quickbooks icon and selecting the "run as administrator" option. If the problem persists see the following http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/knowledgebasearticle/1...

Please, if the responses provided solved your issue in any way mark as solved so that others may also benefit from the answers to possibly the same questions. Thank you!

I am having the same problem. Why do I have to reduce security to make this program work. The link from ralphmart12 didn't work for me either.
