Balance sheets are only real time?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2009

 

I am doing for a not-for-profit and they printed out an Income Statement for year ended July 31, 2008 but also provided a Balance sheet dated August 23, 2008.

I asked they provide a BS dated July 31, but is it updated with current information?
