I do not generate invoices, I just want to post a receipt to a customer--- how do you do it?

I am trying to post a receipt. I do not generate invoices for my company, so there is no invoice to post against. I come out with an overpayment and a credit--- How do I get around this? I just want to post to a customer.

Enter a Sales Receipt--this records the income from the sale and the receipt of money in one step.
