Has anyone had much success with online advertising for bookkeeping and tax services? If so, what have you found to be key to your success in your online marketing campaign?

I have a small, but growing practice. I thought about creating a website for my business...however, when I called some famous and some not so famous companies for that, I got a whole wide range of pricing. Even when I called the same company at different hours of the day, I got different quotes and estimates! Does anyone recommend a way to establish a website that is connected to the popular search engines for one's area? Has anyone done this? Has it proven effective in attracting new clients? Please let me know:

Godaddy.com has Website tonight. I use it to maintain my website. Homestead.com has a similar product. Both are very easy to use. If you know how to use MS Word you can set up a website. If you do create your own website I would recommend having a ghost writer prepare you content for you. Make sure you give the writer guidance as to what you want you content to say. It is much easier to pay someone else to write the content and then you take a red pen and make edits. Chillicontent.com is a good website for that.

I got two clients from free ads on Craigslist. I renew the ad every week. I also advertise on Backpage.com and several other sites. I also got 2 referrals from CPAs and 2 referrals from people that know me. My first client was my previous employer.

I have built my entire practice from Internet marketing, and still have a list a mile long of things I want to do. I do no other networking of any kind, and spend less than $200/month for marketing and practically nothing on my website. I'm thinking about starting a small side practice to help other ProAdvisors with their Internet marketing if there is sufficient interest, since in a 'previous life' I was an Internet marketing consultant. If you're interested, drop me an email at sgilljp@gmail.com.

We are a small firm that specializes with telecommutting and virtual bookkeeping and taxes. We are in the current process of bartering our services for website design. So far the designer is great. We made a fair trade and we are very excited about the website. I would look in Craigslist but the California area. I am from Florida, but it appears a lot of people are more into telecommutting in CA.

I am just starting out, but have found Networksolutions.com to be an easy fairly affordable to get a domain name, design your own website and get it hosted. I just lauched my site this week, so I don't know how well it will work.

I just created my website a few weeks ago with Yahoo Business Services. It took just a few hours. It's very inexpensive. A website alone won't guarantee any kind of success. You have to mention it in all your Internet ads and oter promotional materials.
