I want to set myself on time tracker

I have opened a QBS personal file for me .right now I am working hourly for a accounting firm and want to bill them hourly .I want to set myself on time tracker .I have to be other (can't be vendor/employee) ,yes,is that right ?

If it is your own company, are you an employee (i.e. an S Corp or C Corp)?  Then, you can take owner's draws as a vendor.  It really doesn't make much difference--except if you put it on the other names list it doesn't show in the vendor center or on many reports.

Sounds like you're a vendor if you aren't on the payroll as an employee.

What about  setting as Other ? or is best to set up as vendor? If so could you explain it a little and also how can I change from other to vendor in Quick Books

If you're working for them as a sub contractor, then you're a vendor.  A vendor is basically anyone the company pays--landlord, utility company, office supply stores, gas stations, etc.  With vendors, you can see the details in the Vendor Center and you can track & print 1099s at year end for the sub contractors.

Go in and edit the name and on the right, click on change type and you can change the other name to a vendor.

I am sorry, but still want to clear : I am vendor to the accounting firm I work with ,but how can I be vendor  in my own company files ? that is also my personal files I have not incorporated yet.
