My brother told me yesterday he'd just moved into the top 3 google listings (above a major competitor) for one of his major keywords. He got there because he 1. thoroughly overhauled his site with SEO in mind and 2. maybe more importantly, he's been blogging like crazy, automating his blog connections with his site and Web 2.0 tools. There aren't any easy shortcuts, just some virtual elbow grease.
