How to charge and pay sales tax for on-line store based in NC

I'm setting up an on-line business (in NC) to sell my photography/art works. I'm VERY confused about the sales tax issue...how to charge and who to pay the tax to. Do I need to do this for ALL 50 states??

You should talk to a tax professional.

It is sure that you will need to register in your home state (NC) and collect and remit sales tax on all the sales where you send your photography/art works to an address within NC. As long as you don't have any locations, sales persons, or agreements with local businesses in other states, you most likely will not collect and remit sales tax to those states. But! Every state tries to collect as much sales tax as they can, and the rules and regulations are different. It would not hurt to contact the "other" states's department of revenue to learn about their sales tax laws.
