I use QB for my personal balance sheet. I created balance sheet accounts that correspond to items on a personal balance sheet. For the assets I set up Cash accounts, retirement accounts, vehicles, home, and business ventures. In the liabilities, I put mortgages, credit cards and home equity loans. The nice thing about this format, is you can update the balances every period and have a nice report that shows the changes over the years.
